Nelly Litvak is an Associate Professor in the Stochastic Operations Research group at the University of Twente. She received her PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology in 2002. She has received Stieltjes Prize for the best PhD thesis in mathematics. She has worked on a large variety of topics including performance analysis of warehousing systems, queuing, and healthcare logistics. From 2004 she has been working on the analysis of complex networks, in particular, on ranking algorithms, Web search, random graphs, Monte Carlo methods, and statistical analysis of complex networks. She is a laureate of a Meervoud grant `Ranking of nodes in complex stochastic networks’, 2005-2009, and Google Faculty Research Award 2012. She is a node leader of the FET Open project NADINE, 2012-2015. Nelly Litvak has more than 60 publications in leading journals and conferences. She is a member of programme committees and invited speaker at many top conferences. She is a managing editor of the Internet Mathematics journal.

Gabriella Pasi is Full Professor at the Università Degli Studi di Milano Bicocca. Within the Department of Informatics, Systems and Communication she is the head of the Information Retrieval Research Lab. Her research activity mainly concerns the modelling and design of flexible and personalised systems for the management and access to information (such as Information Retrieval Systems, and Information Filtering Systems), as well as the definition of approaches to data analytics on social media.
She has published more than 200 papers on International Journals and Books, and on the Proceeding of International Conferences. Since 2013 she is the President of the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technologies (EUSFLAT). She has delivered several Keynote Talks /Plenary Lectures at international conferences related to her research interests. She has participated to the organization of several International events, in both roles of organization and program chair.
She is a member of the Editorial Board of several international journals among which Information Processing and Management, Fuzzy Sets and Systems, Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems, Intelligent Decision Technology: An International Journal. She led several projects and she has been the coordinator of the European Project PENG (Personalized News Content Programming), a STREP (Specific Targeted Research or Innovation Project), within the VI Framework Programme, Priority II, Information Society Technology. Recently, she has been Member of the Management Committee (MC Member) of the COST ACTION IC1002: Multilingual and multifaceted interactive information access (MUMIA) (31/11/2010 – 29/11/2014).
